LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED THE NEW PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN

On 11 January Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis took part in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Kazakhstan  Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Minister Valionis congratulated the President of Kazakhstan and handed him a letter of congratulations and a present from the President of Lithuania Valdas Admkus.

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs took part in the working lunch organized by the President of Kazakhstan for the heads of state and government who attended the ceremony.

After the working lunch the President of Kazakhstan received the Head of Lithuanian diplomacy. During the discussion on bilateral relations it was stated that Lithuanian-Kazakh cooperation became more active.

During the inauguration ceremony Foreign Minister Valionis had short conversations with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, former President of Russia Boris Yeltsin, the President of Georgia Michail Saakashvili and the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.

On 12 January Mr Valionis meets with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Daniyal Akhmetov. Lithuanian Foreign Minister will also visit Karaganda where he meets with local mayors and local Lithuanian community.
