LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER BIDS FAREWELL TO THE OUTGOING DANISH AMBASSADOR TO LITHUANIA
On 29 November, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis received the outgoing Danish Ambassador to Lithuania Laurids Mikaelsen.When bidding farewell to the Minister, the Danish Ambassador highlighted his interest in further cooperation with Lithuania within the European Union and the Baltic Sea region, and expressed hope that business exchange between Lithuania and Denmark would remain very intensive.
The Minister thanked the Ambassador for his efforts to develop friendly bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of Denmark as one of Lithuania’s largest economic partners in the region.“Twenty years ago, Denmark was among the first countries that recognized Lithuania’s independence. Today, this country plays a significant role in the renewing Baltic-Nordic cooperation,” the Minister noted.
The Danish Embassy in Lithuania attaches great importance to the dissemination of information regarding renewable energy, climate change and road safety, and has organized seminars and issued publications on these topics.
L.Mikaelsen was appointed as the Ambassador of Denmark to Lithuania on 19 September 2007. Denmark and Lithuania established diplomatic relations on 24 August 1991.
