LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER AND THE NEW BELGIAN AMBASSADOR DISCUSS BILATERAL COOPERATION AND LITHUANIA’S FORTHCOMING PRESIDENCY OF THE EU COUNCIL
On 12 October, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with the Ambassador of Belgium to Lithuania Peter Lescouhier and discussed with him possibilities to advance bilateral political and economic partnership, and priorities of Lithuania’s forthcoming presidency of the EU Council in 2013.
Head of Lithuania’s diplomacy and the Ambassador discussed intensive and strengthening economic relations between Belgium and Lithuania, and successful cooperation between Lithuania and Belgian regions: Flanders and Wallonia. A new three-year cooperation agreement between Lithuania and Flanders will be signed this year.
The Minister also presented priorities of Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU Council in 2013.
“I believe that we shall further strengthen the cooperation between Lithuania and Belgium on the political and practical levels during Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and also after it,” Foreign Minister Ažubalis said.
