LITHUANIAN DOCUMENTARY FILM ABOUT THE EVENTS OF JUNE 1941 IS SCREENED IN CHICAGO

On 19-21, Lithuanian Consulate General in Chicago and the online shop http://www.dalelelietuvos.lt/, organized screenings of the new Lithuanian documentary “Pavergtųjų sukilimas” (The Uprising of the Enslaved). Participant in the Uprising of 1941, Kazys Ambrozaitis, shared his memories and experiences with the public.

The screenings took place at the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, the Lithuanian Museum of Art and at the Lithuanian World Center.

The two-part historical documentary film “Pavergtųjų sukilimas” was produced in 2011. It is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Uprising of 1941.

The film is based on the stories told by the participants and witnesses of the Uprising, comments and assessments made by historians and scholars and on the authentic archival material. Producers of the film aimed to restore the timeline of these historical events and to reveal the significance of the tragic events in Lithuania’s history of today.

The screenings were sponsored by the Friends of the Lithuanian Activist Front (LAF), the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture and the Lithuanian Museum of Art. You can buy the movie DVD at the online shop http://www.dalelelietuvos.lt/.
