On 19-24 March, Lithuanian delegation headed by Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Evaldas Ignatavičius was on a working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Lithuanian delegation, which included the representatives of Lithuanian Foreign Ministry and Industrialist Confederation, attended the International Cairo Trade Fair, industrial and financial centre in Alexandria and the world’s oldest Alexandrian Library.
During his visit, Evaldas Ignatavičius had official meetings with Egypt's Foreign Trade Minister Youssef Boutros-Ghali, Foreign Trade Vice Chairman El Sayed Moh. Abu El Komsan and Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Shaaban. Deputy Foreign Minister also met with chiefs of the Parliamentary Security and Foreign Affairs Committee. During the meetings, Evaldas Ignatavičius and Egypt's officials discussed the further development of bilateral political, economic and cultural co-operation between Lithuania and Egypt, political situation in the Middle East and exchanged opinions on co-operation between the countries of the Mediterranean Sea Region and the EU.
