LITHUANIAN DAYS CONCLUDE IN GEORGIA
On 22 October, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Igantavičius delivered a lecture entitled “From Sarmatia to the Eastern Partnership: the Search for a European Identity” at Ilia Chavchavadze State University in Tbilisi and in this concluded a week-long series of events of the Lithuanian Days in Georgia.
According to Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius, freedom and independence are reinforced not only by the membership in NATO and in the European Union, but also by the attractiveness of the values that are fostered by the society.During the week of events, Lithuanian diplomats, representatives from non-governmental organizations and academia, music and TV stars visited seven municipalities in Georgia, where they met with local residents and told them about the Lithuanian nature, culture, history and everyday life of ordinary people.
During the visit to Georgia, Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius also held meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze, State Minister for Reintegration Temuri Yakobashvili and other senior officials. The Vice-Minister was also a moderator of an evening dedicated to the Lithuanian and Georgian poetry and took part in the events of the Tbilisi city festival Tbilisoba.
The project “Lithuanian Days in Georgia” was implemented by the organization Eastern Europe Studies Centre, it was supported by the Government of Lithuania.
