Lithuanian Coordinator for NATO and Deputy Foreign Minister, Giedrius Cekuolis visited Iceland on April 24th and 25th . He met Iceland's Foreign Minister Halldor Asgrimsson, the Icelandic Foreign Ministry's permanent secretary Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaygsson, the Prime Minister's advisor on foreign and security policy Alber Jonsson and members of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Iceland.
His discussions with Icelandic politicians focused on NATO expansion and other security policy issues. Iceland's permanent foreign affairs secretary reported that Iceland as a member of NATO would support in granting the membership to the Baltic States at the 2001 NATO Summit in Prague.
