LITHUANIAN-CHINESE COOPERATION POSSIBILITIES WERE DISCUSSED

On 10 July Lithuanian Foreign Ministry State Secretary Algimantas Rimkūnas received the Chairman of UNESCO’s Executive Board Zhang Xinsheng who is also Vice Minister of Education of China and the Chairman of Chinese National Commission for UNESCO.

In the meeting prospects of Lithuanian-Chinese bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed, Mr Xinsheng proposed more active cooperation between National Commissions for UNESCO of both states.

Lithuanian Foreign Ministry State Secretary and the Chairman of UNESCO Executive Board also addressed possibilities of Lithuanian-Chinese exchange in education sphere, necessity to accelerate preparation of agreement between Ministries of Education of both states, touched upon prospects of the United Nations’ and its agencies’ reforms.

Mr Xinsheng thanked for excellent Lithuania’s preparation for the 30th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee taking place on 8-16 July in Vilnius. He also noted valuable Lithuanian cultural heritage protection experience, that enables the country to be important and popular UNESCO member.
