LITHUANIAN-ARMENIAN AGREEMENT ON PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF INVESTMENTS SIGNED IN YEREVAN

On 25 April in Yerevan Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of the Republic of Armenia on Promotion and Protection of Investments.

According to the Agreement the parties are obliged to promote investments of each other’s citizens and business entities on their territories. The investments are granted the most-favoured-nation status. The agreement guarantees that the invested funds are not to be expropriated and investors of other states are not to be discriminated, free transfer of investment funds is to be allowed. The Agreement also specifies the order of settlement of disputes related to investments.

The Agreement comes into force after ratification by Lithuanian and Armenian parliaments.
