On 25 August, the Lithuanian and Latvian Ministers of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis and Artis Pabriks met in Palanga, in the framework of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic (NB-8) countries, currently taking place in this Lithuanian seaside resort.
At the meeting, the Ministers discussed the prospects of the bilateral Lithuanian-Latvian relations, drew up the guidelines for the future cooperation, talked about the relations with Russia and other Eastern neighbours as well as the regional infrastructure projects.
The Ministers also spoke of possibility to hold consultations between the Baltic States on common actions concerning recovery of losses caused by the Soviet occupation.
Antanas Valionis asked his new Latvian counterpart to draw attention to the conflict situation in the Riga harbour and to find out why discriminatory business environment is created for the Lithuanian shipping company "Lisco Baltic Service".
The meeting of foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic countries in Palanga will last till 26 August.
