Lithuanian and Kenyan Foreign Ministers discuss opportunities for cooperation
On 31 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kenya Raychelle Awuor Omamo, discussed bilateral relations and expressed their mutual interest in developing cooperation.
The meeting focused on possibilities of strengthening the relationship between Lithuania and Kenya, especially economic ties. “We would like to maintain an intensified bilateral relationship and we see untapped potential for expanding it in various areas. Lithuanian companies with an exception of a few information and communications technology companies that provide software solutions and services to African countries, including Kenya, still poorly know the Kenyan market. We would like to increase exports of digital technologies and e-government services. We can also see an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in the field of life sciences," said the Minister L. Linkevičius.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the two countries, the measures taken by them and cooperation within international organizations. The Foreign Ministers also discussed the possibility of conducting bilateral political consultations between the Lithuanian and Kenyan Ministries of Foreign Affairs through video conferencing in the near future.
