LITHUANIAN AND ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS IMPORTANT ISSUES

At the meeting with new Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi di Sant`Agata on 6 December, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis spoke about the 20th anniversary of close diplomatic relations between the countries, active cooperation within the European Union, NATO and other international organizations.

Head of the Lithuanian diplomacy congratulated the Italian Minister upon assuming the office and wished him success during this tumultuous period for the entire EU.

A.Ažubalis (right) and G.Terzi di Sant`Agata The Ministers discussed the unresolved issue of the pre-war Lithuanian Embassy building ‘Villa Lituania’ in Rome that was seized by the Soviets during the occupation and both Ministers agreed that there was a need to make a fair decision.

Lithuanian and Italian Foreign Ministers also discussed preparation for the forthcoming European Council meeting, the EU Financial Perspectives (2014-2020) negotiations and other topical EU issues.
