Lithuanian and Israeli Foreign Ministers discuss Russia's military aggression against Ukraine

On 25 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with the Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to discuss Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. The chief of Lithuania's diplomacy said that no country could stay away when aggression was being used against a sovereign country,  crimes against humanity were being committed, and the world order based on international law was being destroyed.

“We appreciate Israel’s efforts to put an end to Russia's aggression. We also believe that Ukraine needs more military, economic and political support, while maximum sanctions must be applied to the perpetrators of the crimes. We aim to increase the number of sanctioning countries," Landsbergis said.

Lithuania's Foreign Minister also highlighted the need to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence posture in the Baltic states. The Foreign Ministers took stock of other items on the international agenda and prospects for the exchange of bilateral visits.
