LITHUANIAN AND GREEK FOREIGN MINISTERS’ MEETING UNDERLINES THE NEED TO MAINTAIN THE UNITY OF EUROPE
In the margins of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (Gymnich) on 7 September in Paphos, Cyprus, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with the newly appointed Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos. During the conversation, A.Ažubalis stressed that in the face of global economic challenges European unity was now more important than ever.
Head of the Lithuanian diplomacy stressed that the recent Baltic-German and Baltic-Nordic foreign ministers’ meetings were dominated by a unanimous agreement that Europe must remain united and undivided.
The Ministers also discussed strengthening relations between Lithuania and Greece, particularly in the field of tourism.
