On 18 November, Lithuanian Ambassador to the US Vygaudas Ušackas expressed President’s of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus congratulations to the 42-nd US President Bill Clinton on the opening of Clinton Presidential centre in Little Rock, Arkansas.
“I would like to thank you for your country’s efforts in opening the NATO door to Lithuania. I ensure you that Lithuania as a member of the European Union and NATO strives to extend and strengthen the transatlantic relations. Today America and Europe share the same values. Our continents had developed strong political economical, security and cultural connections. I am sure Europe needs America and America needs Europe” – said in the letter of the Head of the Republic to Bill Clinton and his wife Senator Hillary Clinton
In his letter Lithuanian President is hopeful of friendly, partner and mutual understanding spirit of future bilateral Lithuania and US relations.
The opening of Clintons Presidential Centre was attended by 15 ex-heads of the state with 39th US President Jimmy Carter and 41st US president George Bush among them, present ministers, members of Diplomatic Corps, high US officials.
Vygaudas Ušackas also met with Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas Mr. Winthrop Rockefeller who has Lithuanian roots.
On 19 November, Vygaudas Ušackas goes to Texas where he meets with Donnie Nelson – Honorary Ambassador of Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists to the US, businessmes and investors from Texas.
