LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE HOLY SEE PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO THE POPE
On September 6, Lithuania’s new Ambassador to the Holy See Irena Vaišvilaitė presented letters of credence to Pope Benedict XVI.
The Ambassador conveyed to the Pope the warm greetings and invitation of the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė to visit Lithuania at a convenient time.
Vaišvilaitė also met with the Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.
The Cardinal emphasized good bilateral relations and Lithuania’s strong commitment to human rights.
Vaišvilaitė is the fourth Ambassador of Lithuania to the Holy See after the restoration of Lithuania’s independence.
