On 4 March, Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel Alfonsas Eidintas visited the Jewish Heritage Centre ‘Hechal Schlomo’. The Centre’s chiefs and scientists studying Jewish religious traditions acquainted the Ambassador with the Centre’s activities and the Centre-based museum. Alfonsas Eidintas was interested in the storing conditions of the torahs, which Lithuania handed over to this religious organisation at the end of January this year. He inquired about the plans with regard to them.
At the meeting, Ambassador Alfonsas Eidintas affirmed Lithuania’s readiness to co-operate in studying Jewish community’s cultural and spiritual heritage in Lithuania and providing the results of the study for the general public. He also noted Lithuanian National Library’s interest in co-operating with Israeli libraries for the purpose of drawing up joint projects.
