Lithuanian Ambassador signs Additional Protocol to Council of Europe Convention on Prevention of Terrorism

On 23 March in Strasbourg, the Ambassador of Lithuania Laima Jurevičienė signed the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, which was adopted on 22 October 2015 in Riga. The Protocol will enter into force after it has been ratified by the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania.  

The purpose of the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism is to supplement the provisions of the Convention, as regards the criminalisation of such acts as participating in an association or group for the purpose of terrorism, travelling abroad for the purpose of terrorism, participating in a terrorist offence, receiving training for terrorism, organising or otherwise facilitating travelling abroad for the purpose of terrorism, and funding travelling abroad for the purpose of terrorism.

26 countries have signed the Convention.
