Lithuanian Ambassador presents letters of credence to President of Macedonia

On 31 July in Ohrid, Ambassador of Lithuania Rasa Kairienė presented her letters of credence to President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov. After the ceremony, the officials discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation.

The President thanked Lithuania for supporting the country on its path towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration and invited President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė to pay a return visit to Macedonia. Ivanov paid an official visit to Lithuania in 2012.

On 30 July in Skopje, the Ambassador of Lithuania also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia Nikola Poposki. The Foreign Minister welcomed the good bilateral relations established two decades ago and thanked Lithuania for its continued support to Macedonia’s strategic goal of joining the European Union and NATO.

The officials agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, education and science, defence, social affairs and health.

Lithuania and Macedonia established diplomatic relations on 11 July 1995.
