Lithuanian Ambassador presents her letters of credence to President of Montenegro

On 26 June, Ambassador of Lithuania Rasa Kairienė presented her letters of credence to President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović during an official ceremony at the President’s residence in Cetinje.

In a conversation after the ceremony, the officials discussed issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The President of Montenegro thanked for Lithuania’s support for Montenegro’s goals of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and the ongoing cooperation in the field of defence. The officials discussed Montenegro’s prospects of NATO membership.

The Lithuanian Ambassador, who resides in Budapest, highlighted Montenegro’s progress toward the accession to the European Union, Lithuania’s further support and opportunities to share knowledge and expertise in various fields. The Ambassador asserted that Lithuania welcomed and supported Montenegro’s aspiration to become a NATO member, as this would guarantee stability in the whole of the Western Balkan region. In the conversation, the officials discussed the EU support for Ukraine and relations with third countries.

Both sides also confirmed their mutual interest to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

Lithuania and Montenegro established diplomatic relations in 2006.
