LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

On 11 December, Lithuanian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Romualdas Visokavičius presented credentials to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Akaev. During the presentation ceremony the Ambassador expressed hope that Lithuanian and Kyrgyz relations would be friendly, efficient and evolving in sphere of politics, economics, culture and education. The Kyrgyz President underlined the importance of appointment of Lithuanian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. According to A. Akaev now all conditions exist for development of Lithuanian and Kyrgyz relations and Kyrgyzstan is interested in this development. After the ceremony A. Akaev invited R. Visokavičius to discuss important issues of Lithuanian and Kyrgyz cooperation. The President evinced interest in elaboration of the legal base of bilateral cooperation meaning the preparation and signing of new treaties. The possibilities to organize A. Akaev’s visit to Lithuania and visits of Lithuanian high-ranking officials to Kyrgyzstan were also discussed. During the meeting special attention was paid to the development of Lithuanian and Kyrgyz economic relations. Kyrgyz representatives outlined concrete proposals on cooperation in spheres of textile, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, production of building materials and food industry.
