LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA

Lithuania’s Ambassador to Canada Vytautas Žalys presented the letters of credence to David Lloyd Johnston, the Governor General of Canada, in a solemn ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on September 13. The event was attended by senior officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, heads of Lithuanian communities in Canada and Ottawa, Lithuanian honorary consuls in Montreal and Toronto.

After the ceremony, Žalys emphasized the successful bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence, education, democracy and development cooperation.

The Governor General evaluated the contribution of the Lithuanian diaspora to the development of modern Canada.

“Canada’s Lithuanian community is the link that connects and substantially enriches bilateral relations,” Žalys said.

The Ambassador conveyed to Johnston the greetings of President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
