LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE
On 6 March Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine Algirdas Kumža presented credentials to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.
President Yushchenko received Ambassador Kumža together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Boris Tarasiuk.
During the conversation the President of Ukraine expressed his profound respect for Lithuania and its President Valdas Adamkus and referred to Lithuanian-Ukrainian relations as exemplary relations. Lithuanian President’s substantial contribution to the regulation of the political crisis in Ukraine during the “Orange Revolution” was mentioned.
Speaking about future perspectives President Yushchenko ensured that Ukraine would continue to strive for Euro-Atlantic integration – membership in the EU and NATO. Lithuanian Ambassador voiced hope for this position to remain unchanged after parliamentary elections in March.
