LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

On 31 October Lithuanian Ambassador Rokas Bernotas presented credentials to the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet. During the ceremony President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that a bond of traditional friendship linked Lithuania and Vietnam. Vietnam considers Lithuania as a bridge to the European Union. The President of Vietnam invited President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to visit Vietnam. During the conversation Ambassador R.Bernotas marked two major fields for further cooperation between Lithuania and Vietnam: transport and logistics. The President of Vietnam was especially interested in Lithuania’s potential developing the cooperation on transport issues.

Ambassador R.Bernotas is the second Lithuanian Ambassador accredited to Vietnam and residing in Beijing.

Lithuania and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on 18 March 1992.
