LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA
On 26 September Lithuanian Ambassador with residence in Beijing Rokas Bernotas presented credentials to the President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar. During the conversation, the President of Mongolia accepted the suggestion by Ambassador R.Bernotas to hold consultations of Mongolian and Lithuanian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, in which representatives from other institutions could also take part.
During the visit to Mongolia, Ambassador R.Bernotas discussed bilateral relations and important issues of international policy with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Damdin Tsogtbaatar and Director of the European Department Shijeehu Ododnbaatar. The interlocutors searched for the possibilities to cooperate more intensively between Lithuania and Mongolia.
Mongolian representatives particularly emphasized Lithuania’s experience in implementing institutional reforms and growth of economy of our country. According to them, Mongolia is interested in strengthening bilateral economic and cultural cooperation.
In spring of 2008, Kaunas University of Medicine took part in the Mongolian higher education fair, after which many Mongolian students expressed their wish to study in Lithuania.
In 2007, Lithuanian export to Mongolia amounted to 10.13 m. Litas. Compared to 2006, export to this country has grown by about 10 times. In 2007, there was no Lithuanian import from Mongolia.
Lithuanian and Mongolia established diplomatic relations on 11 December 1991.
Ambassador R.Bernotas with residence in Beijing is the second Lithuanian Ambassador accredited to Mongolia.
