LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF LATVIA

On 20 November, Ambassador of Lithuania Antanas Valionis presented credentials to President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers. During the conversation with the Latvian President, the Ambassador noted that Lithuania pursues a greater solidarity and closer cooperation with its neighbor country. Both sides were glad about the development of outstanding bilateral relations in the areas of economic, cultural and military cooperation.

During the meeting, the objective of both countries to foster the Baltic languages and identity, to promote contacts among people and to advance mutual dialogue was emphasized.

Ambassador Antanas Valionis is the sixth Lithuanian Ambassador to Latvia.

Lithuania and Latvia restored their diplomatic relations on 5 October 1991.
