LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF LATVIA

On 20 July Lithuanian Ambassador to Latvia Antanas Vinkus presented credentials to the President of the country Vaira Vike-Freiberga. The Ambassador promised to continue other Lithuanian Ambassadors’ work maintaining and developing close relations between the nations. The new Ambassador plans to pay special attention to cooperation of the regions, particularly the border regions, economic diplomacy and development of cultural ties.

Latvian President Vike-Freiberga congratulated the new Ambassador and underlined the importance of cooperation between small states on bilateral and multilateral level.

In the meeting Latvia’s preparations for November NATO Summit were discussed, opinions on topical foreign policy issues were exchanged.

Mrs Vike-Freiberga conveyed best wishes to the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus and asked Lithuanian Ambassador to congratulate the new Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas.
