LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF KYRGYZSTAN

On 27 May, Lithuanian Ambassador Romualdas Kozyrovičius presented credentials to the President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

Ambassador R.Kozyrovičius conveyed best respects from President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to K.Bakiyev.

Lithuanian Ambassador and the President of Kyrgyzstan expressed satisfaction at the results of the recent official visit of Prime Minister of Lithuania Gediminas Kirkilas to Kyrgyzstan. They highlighted the mutual wish and interest of both countries to strengthen economic trade relations, to develop cooperation in the areas of defence, ecology and culture.

Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan established diplomatic relations on 3 July, 1992.

In 2007, export from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan was 90 million Litas. Since 2006, export from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan has increased almost twice (48%). In 2007, import from Kyrgyzstan to Lithuania was 0,17 million  Litas. Since 2006, import from Kyrgyzstan to Lithuania has increased by 25 %.

In 2007, the turnover of trade between Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan was 90 million Litas. The trade balance was positive and reached 89,9 million Litas.

Ambassador R.Kozyrovičius, who resides in Kazakhstan, is the second Lithuanian Ambassador accredited to Kyrgyzstan.
