LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF ESTONIA
On 12 October the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Bernatonis presented credentials to the President of the Republic of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves.
Lithuanian Ambassador was the first foreign diplomatic representative received by the new President of Estonia, who came into office on 9 October.
Ambassador Bernatonis congratulated the newly elected President and remarked that the President of Estonia is expected to attend the traditional meeting of the Presidents of the Baltic States on 6 November in Vilnius.
During a conversation with Estonian President, Ambassador Bernatonis noted that close Lithuanian-Estonian ties reflect present-day needs of our states and contribute to creation of united and prosperous Europe.
On 12 October Ambassador Bernatonis was also received by the President of Estonian Parliament Toomas Varek. At the meeting the importance of cooperation between Lithuanian and Estonian parliaments was underlined.
Ambassador Bernatonis conveyed an invitation of the Chairman of Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Muntianas to the President of Estonian Parliament to pay a visit to Lithuania.
