LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF AUSTRIA
On 26 September Lithuanian Ambassador Giedrius Puodžiūnas presented credentials to the Federal President of Austria Heinz Fischer in Vienna.
During the ceremony Ambassador Puodžiūnas noted that one of the most important Lithuania’s goals is to cherish and develop good relations with neighbours and partners in the European Union and NATO.
Lithuanian Ambassador welcomed good bilateral Lithuanian-Austrian relations and congratulated Austrian President on successful Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2006.
The Federal President of Austria Fischer thanked for congratulations and remarked that though Lithuanian-Austrian relations are excellent, they could be further developed at different levels. According to the Federal President of Austria cooperation between Vilnius and Linz under European Capital of Culture 2009 programme opens good opportunities to do this.
Lithuanian Ambassador to Austria Puodžiūnas extended an invitation of the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to the Federal President of Austria Fischer to visit Lithuania in the nearest future. The Federal President of Austria thanked for the invitation and promised to look for possibilities for visiting Lithuania.
