LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF ALBANIA

On 28 January, Lithuanian Ambassador Artūras Žurauskas presented credentials to the President of the Republic of Albania Bamir Topi. During the conversation, which followed the ceremony, the Ambassador indicated that Lithuania supported Albania’s Euro-Atlantic integration goals and was prepared to assist Albania in this process. Lithuania is also ready to strengthen bilateral technical cooperation and to share experience with this country.

The President of the Republic of Albania B.Topi thanked Lithuania for offering support and expressed trust that Albania would be invited to NATO in the nearest future, and that the country would successfully fulfil all the necessary requirements for its membership in the European Union.

During the conversation, a mutual objective to strengthen the economic and cultural cooperation, and people-to-people relations was also stressed.

During the visit to Albania, Ambassador A.Žurauskas also met with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha and high ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lithuanian Embassy in Greece is accredited to Cyprus, Bulgaria and Albania.

Lithuanian Ambassador A.Žurauskas, residing in Athens, is the second Lithuanian Ambassador to Albania.

Lithuania and Albania established diplomatic relations on 27 April, 1992.
