LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE PARLIAMENT OF TURKMENISTAN
On 30 January, Lithuanian Ambassador Kęstutis Kudzmanas presented credentials to the chairperson of the Parliament (Mejlis) of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdiyeva. During the ceremony, A.Nurberdiyeva indicated that she knew about the political accomplishments of our country, fast economy growth and expressed trust that relations between Lithuania and Turkmenistan would intensify in the future. Ambassador K.Kudzmanas briefly presented the achievements of our country and invited the Heads of Turkmenistan to visit Lithuania.
K.Kudzmanas also paid attention to rapid growth of Turkmen economy potential, which encourages Lithuanian businessmen to pay more active attention to the perspective market of this country. Speaking about possible areas of cooperation between the countries, both parties highlighted energy, investment and tourism development, transmission of Lithuania’s experience implementing institutional reforms.
During the visit in Turkmenistan, K.Kudzmanas also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Minister of Trade and Consumers’ Cooperation of Turkmenistan Gurbangeldy Melekeev, Turkmen Minister for Economy and Finance, Khojamurat Geldymuradov, the European Union Ambassadors residing in Ashgabat and heads of Tourism Departement.
Lithuanian Embassy to Azerbaijan is accredited to Turkmenistan.
Ambassador K.Kudzmanas, residing in Baku, is the first Lithuanian Ambassador to Turkmenistan.
Lithuania and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations on 21 July, 1992.
