LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
On 3 May Lithuanian Ambassador to the State of Israel, the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Cyprus and Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė, who resides in Tel Aviv, presented credentials to President of the Republic of South Africa Thabo Mbeki in Pretoria. During the conversation Ambassador A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and President T.Mbeki stressed that the history of both countries seeking freedom and independence had a lot in common. During the conversation both sides expressed determination to expand Lithuanian-South African cooperation in the areas of economy, business, investments and culture.
President T.Mbeki conveyed an invitation to President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to visit the Republic of South Africa.
Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė is the third diplomatic representative of Lithuania to the Republic of South Africa.
Lithuania and the Republic of South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1991.
