LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO ITALIAN PRESIDENT
On 10 October Lithuanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Italy Šarūnas Adomavičius presented credentials to the President of Italy Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.
Ambassador Šarūnas Adomavičius extended to Italian President Lithuanian President’s Valdas Adamkus’ sincere congratulations and invitation to visit Lithuania.
During the conversation Italian President and the Ambassador underlined the necessity for further strengthening of common European values. The Ambassador raised the unresolved issue of pre-war Lithuanian Embassy in Rome. Italian President confirmed his awareness of the problem and asked the representatives of Italian Foreign Ministry, who took part in the conversation, to settle the issue.
Italian President Ciampi underlined that the events of the latter half-year confirm the necessity for all countries to cooperate closely building a united Europe, where common freedoms and democratic values are cherished.
