On 8 September, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Romualdas Kalonaitis presented credentials to the country’s Queen Beatrix.
During the conversation, which took place after the ceremony, Queen Beatrix thanked Lithuanian diplomats for the successful establishment of the Lithuanian embassy in The Hague as well as honourable representation of the country in the Netherlands.
The Lithuanian embassy to the Kingdom of the Netherlands was established in 2000. For four years it was headed by Charge d’Affaires Darius Pranckevičius. Kalonaitis became the first Lithuania’s ambassador residing in The Hague at the important time for the Netherlands, when the country presides over the enlarged European Union.
