LITHUANIA WILL ISSUE SCHENGEN VISAS TO RUSSIAN CITIZENS TRAVELING TO FINLAND

On 1 May, the agreement between the Lithuanian and Finnish foreign ministries comes into effect, in compliance with which Lithuania will represent Finland when issuing Schengen visas in Russia’s Kaliningrad region.

Finland became the fourth country, which will be represented by the Lithuanian consulate general in Kaliningrad when issuing Schengen visas. Denmark and Estonia have been represented since 2009, and Norway since 2010.

When representing these countries, the consulate general issued nearly two thousand visas last year.

In total in 2010, the Lithuanian consulate general in Kaliningrad issued 55 111 Schengen visas.

Lithuania has also concluded such agreements on representation with Austria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia and Slovenia. Currently, Lithuania is represented by other Schengen countries in 22 countries in various regions around the world, while Lithuanian diplomatic missions and consular offices represent other Schengen countries in eleven foreign countries.
