LITHUANIA WELCOMES THE PEACE AGREEMENT IN THE FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania welcomes the signing of the framework agreement by President Trajkoski and the heads of the four main political parties in the Former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia on 13th of August in Skopje. Lithuania appreciates the restrain shown by the negotiating parties, which was essential to reaching the agreement and considers it as a very important step towards maintaining peace and stability in the Former Yugoslav Republic. Lithuania pays tribute to the mediators of international community EU Representative Francois Leotard and US Special Envoy James Pardew for their tireless efforts to elaborate the agreement. Lithuania believes if the Albanian rebels agree to disarm, NATO will deploy the troops in Macedonia.
