LITHUANIA WELCOMES THE EFFORTS TO COORDINATE THE EUROPEAN UNION EXTERNAL POLICIES BETTER

On 20 November, during the meetings of the European Union Development Ministers in Brussels, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša welcomed the efforts of the countries to coordinate external policies better, as is set out in the findings of the Council. “We have a true realization of the broader political context in evaluating the migration, for example, how migration is correlated with job creation and economic growth,” said Undersecretary.

The European Union has a lot of experience in cooperation in the area of Euro-Mediterranean migration. L.Talat-Kelpša assumes that we could learn from this experience and open up a more active dialogue on migration between the European Union and the Eastern Neighbourhood countries.

Following the example of the European Union-African conferences in Rabat and Tripoli in 2006, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.Talat-Kelpša proposed to organise an analogous conference, dedicated to the Eastern neighbours of the European Union.
