LITHUANIA UNDERLINES THE IMPORTANCE OF EUROPEAN COMMON ENERGY MARKET
On 20 March during the European General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) meeting in Brussels Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis underlined that the integration of isolated energy markets like the ones of the Baltic States into the EU’s common energy market should be a priority of the European Energy Policy.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister proposed to take immediate steps and adopt the priority plan of EU energy interconnections by the end of this year.
During the GAERC meeting Minister Valionis also spoke for the service market to be liberalized as quickly as possible. This is an important step towards an effective internal market of the EU.
EU Foreign Ministers also considered the issues that would be deliberated at the forthcoming European Council dedicated to the economic growth, employment and energy issues.
