Lithuania, together with the European Commission, to help Ukraine prepare for EU membership

On 23 October, the Government approved the decision to contribute to the implementation of the European Commission-funded project ‘The EU Integration Support Facility for Ukraine’.

The project aims to help Ukraine’s public sector institutions and their employees manage and coordinate the EU integration processes, translate EU legislation, and ensure that the public is informed about Ukraine’s European integration process.

The European Commission has allocated EUR 10 million for the implementation of the three-year project. Lithuania will allocate EUR 1 million from the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund for the implementation of this project.

“I really know that Ukraine, just like Moldova, will definitely join the EU. The process will not be easy. Thus, Lithuania will work shoulder to shoulder with the European Commission to help Ukrainian ministers, vice-ministers, parliamentarians and negotiators understand the scale of the challenge and prepare for it properly,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis.

The Central Project Management Agency implements Lithuania’s support for Ukraine’s EU integration project. National funds will be allocated in three stages: EUR 330 000 in 2025, EUR 330 000 in 2026, and EUR 340 000 in 2027.

The Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund consistently contributes to Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery. Between 2022 and 2024, Lithuania rebuilt the Ruta kindergarten in Irpin, restored a lyceum in Borodyanka, renovated and equipped educational institutions in Snihurivka, Mykolaiv Region, installed an anti-radiation shelter in an Irpin kindergarten, and implemented other significant projects.
