Lithuania to share its European integration experience with Ukrainian Deputy Ministers’ delegation
On 4-7 February, Deputy Ministers of Ukraine, responsible for European integration, will get acquainted with Lithuania’s European integration experience, harmonization of national legislation with EU norms and standards.
During the visit, the Ukrainian delegation will meet with representatives of Lithuanian competent Ministries and other institutions, and will hold meetings with Lithuanian politicians and experts to learn more about the process of European integration. The Ukrainian delegation will participate in the 11th meeting of the Lithuania-Ukraine Commission for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania on 5 February.
This is the first working visit of Ukrainian officials, responsible for convergence of law in Ukraine to EU acquis, reforms and harmonization of national legislation with EU norms and standards. The visit of 14 Ukrainian Deputy Ministers was initiated by Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 27 June 2014, the EU signed the Association Agreement with Ukraine. The agreement was ratified by the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania on 8 July. The European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on 16 September.
Lithuania has consistently supported Ukraine’s aspirations of European integration, provided financial, humanitarian, and expert assistance to the country.
