Lithuania to open Honorary Consulate in Saudi Arabia
Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister Mantvydas Bekešius 24 October met with Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, who was recently appointed as the first the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Saudi Arabia.
The Vice-Minister noted that next year Lithuania and Saudi Arabia would mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and urged to use all opportunities to begin the third decade with intense economic ties and cultural exchanges.
“I hope that your appointment as an Honorary Consul will help to promote cooperation between Vilnius and Riyadh, Kaunas and Jeddah, and that you will establish valuable connections in Lithuania. Lithuanian businessmen are very interested in the market of Saudi Arabia, therefore, we must take advantage of these great opportunities for cooperation in the fields of business, culture and other areas,” said the Vice-Minister.
M.bin Mahfouz is a famous Saudi Arabian businessman who heads several companies. He is a member of prominent honorary societies in the United Kingdom. The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania will be opened in the city of Jeddah.
