LITHUANIA SUPPORTS THE DIALOGUE OF CYPRIOT GREEK AND TURKISH COMMUNITIES ON REUNIFICATION OF THE ISLAND

On 3 June, the new Ambassador of Cyprus Kalliopi Avraam residing in Warsaw met Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaroslav Neverovič. During the meeting J. Neverovič and K.Avraam exchanged opinions on bilateral relations between Lithuania and Cyprus, issues on the top of the European Union’s agenda.

Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs J. Neverovič expressed Lithuania’s support to the renewed dialogue of leaders of Cypriot Greek and Turkish communities on reunification of the Cyprus island.

“Lithuania supports active efforts of the parties in search of the legitimate, comprehensive and sustainable decision of Cyprus problem,” J. Neverovič said.

Vice-Minister also drew attention to the importance of expansion of bilateral economic relations, promotion of trade.

K.Avraam is the fourth Cypriot Ambassador accredited to Lithuania.

Lithuania and Cyprus established diplomatic relations on 3 December 1992.
