LITHUANIA SUPPORTS DEVELOPING STATES STRIVING TO PARTICIPATE IN MULTILATERAL TRADE SYSTEM
Lithuania allocated 46 thousand Swiss francs to Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund in response to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) call to contribute to technical support to the least developed, developing and transition economy countries. This is the fist Lithuania’s contribution to this WTO fund.
By providing assistance Lithuania helps these countries to shape trade policy in accordance with to the WTO rules and strengthen their trade-related administrative capacities, and contributes to economic development and poverty reduction in these states.
The Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund was created in November 2001 by the WTO General Council’s decision based on the Doha Ministerial Declaration. The Fund intends to ensure stable financing of WTO technical assistance and training provided to the least developed, developing and transition economy countries.
