LITHUANIA SUPPORTS AND WILL SUPPORT UKRAINE‘S STRIVING FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

On 13 March Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation and Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration goals with the visiting Minister of Defence of  Ukraine Anatoliy Grytsenko.

Anatoliy Grytsenko presented important issues of Ukraine’s internal policy and welcomed the development of Lithuanian-Ukrainian cooperation. The ministers also highlighted the growing importance of the energy security topic on the international agenda.

“Lithuania has always seen Ukraine as an integral part of Europe. Therefore, we are coherently supporting and shall support in the future Ukraine’s European path of development and reforms,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs P. Vaitiekūnas

Ukraine’s Defence Minister thanked Minister P. Vaitiekūnas for Lithuania’s participation and support for Ukraine’s goals of Euro-Atlantic integration. A. Grytsenko once again remarked that Ukraine is interested in acquisition of Lithuania’s experience.

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs P. Vaitiekūnas thanked Ukraine for its support to the Lithuanian-led Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan. Ukraine plans to send a medical officer to the Lithuanian-led Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Team already in May this year.
