LITHUANIA STRONGLY SUPPORTS MOLDOVA‘S STRIVING FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
On 6 March Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation, relations between the European Union and Moldova and the Transnistrian problem with the visiting Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vasile Tarlev.
The Head of Lithuanian Diplomacy assured the Prime Minister of Moldova that Lithuania remained a strong supporter of Moldova’s striving for European integration.
“Until now the cooperation of our countries has been very active and constructive. We are prepared to continue sharing our experience with Moldova, which has chosen a difficult but necessary path of reforms,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs P.Vaitiekūnas.
On 5-6 March the Prime Minister of Moldova is paying an official visit to Lithuania. In Vilnius Prime Minister V.Tarlev met with the high-ranking Lithuanian officials: President Valdas Adamkus, Speaker of the Seimas Viktoras Muntianas, Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas.
The Prime Ministers of Lithuania and Moldova signed a memorandum on partnership in the field of European integration, which is to provide guidelines for purposeful planning of Lithuania’s support to Moldova.
