LITHUANIA STRENGTHENS RELATIONS WITH SRI LANKA AND SALVADOR

On 14 December Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Dalius Čekuolis met with Ambassador of Sri Lanka Nagoorpitchai Sikkander and Ambassador of El Salvador Martin Rivera Gomez who had presented credentials.

In the meeting with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka perspectives of bilateral cooperation were discussed. Ambassador Sikkander thanked Lithuania as EU member for tsunami relief and asked Lithuania to support Sri Lanka’s candidates for the posts of the United Nations Secretary and the Head of International Law Commission.

In the meeting with Ambassador of El Salvador Martin Rivera Gomez opportunities to develop relations between Lithuania and El Salvador, appoint Honorary Consuls and organize visits of delegations were discussed.

According to the Ambassador Rivera Gomez free trade market in Central America should be attractive for Lithuanian businessmen wishing to sell Lithuanian diary products, and Salvador could import the highest quality coffee to Lithuania.
