Lithuania strengthens cooperation with the OECD

The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas is commissioned by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to sign the financing agreement between Lithuania and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on 8 April in Paris.

The signing of the agreement marks a new stage of Lithuania’s intensive cooperation with the OECD. This establishes a legal framework for the OECD’s experts to conduct a wide variety of reviews on the Lithuanian governance, to provide recommendations to improve activities of public institutions, to enhance business transparency and to ensure smooth cooperation between the public and private sectors during the period 2014-2016.

The OECD is considered to be a major international organization, which forms and engrains best practices in its member countries under global economic conditions. Lithuania has aimed to become a full member of the OECD since 2002. New members are expected to join the OECD in 2015.
