LITHUANIA SIMPLIFIES VISA ISSUE FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS
From 3 April, Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs simplifies visa issue for foreign tourists arriving to Lithuania as an organized group.
The new order is prepared according to the Schengen acquis and the best practices of the West European states.
According to the new order the documents of a tourist group necessary to obtain visas can be presented to a diplomatic mission of the Republic of Lithuania by a tour operator or a retailer accredited to the diplomatic mission.
A tourist wishing to obtain a visa through the travel agency should sign only a travel service contract with the agency. No invitation confirmed by the Department of Migration or a contract established by the State Department of Tourism or any other additional documents, substantiating the purpose of a trip will be requested from the tourist.
Furthermore, since the biggest part of foreigners arrive to Lithuania individually, Foreign Ministry will create better conditions for obtaining a visa for individuals who submit documents in person without addressing the travel agency.
Foreigners, who live far from Lithuanian missions abroad wishing to obtain short-term or transit visas may, when possible, receive them in two days term.
Foreigners applying for Lithuanian visa, who request and agree to pay all additional mailing expenses, may receive travel documents with visa by express mail.
Privileges will be given to foreigners, who market used cars in Lithuania. Individuals, who present not less than three declarations of the Customs of the Republic of Lithuania, proving the purchase of used cars over the last 6 months and their export from Lithuania, can obtain a multiple-entry visa without invitation.
Multiple-entry short-stay visas valid for up to one year will be issued to proprietors of real estate in Lithuania, employees of big foreign companies.
Privileges are provided to foreigners who transit across Lithuania. Foreigners, whose spouse, parents, brothers, sisters, children or adopted children live in a third country where you should travel across Lithuania, will receive a multiple-entry transit visas, valid for up to one year. Citizens of Russian Federation complying with these conditions can receive Facilitated Transit Documents valid for up to 3 years.
The privileges mentioned not only allow people to save time and money but create favourable conditions to arrive to Lithuania.
