Lithuania receives recognition in the most influential international economic organisation: entrusted with the Vice-Chairmanship of the OECD Council of Ministers meeting
Lithuania was officially confirmed as the Vice-Chair of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in 2025 - the world’s most influential economic organisation, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
“Although Lithuania is a relatively new member of the OECD, becoming the Vice-Chair of the Ministerial Council Meeting testifies to the high recognition of Lithuania’s achievements by the most developed countries in the world. The OECD member countries highly appreciate Lithuania’s efforts to strengthen economic resilience, its successful experience in countering economic coercion and disinformation, and its strong support for Ukraine. We are happy with the trust given and will work hard for the Ministerial Council Meeting to be successful,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
The OECD Ministerial Council Meeting is the organisation’s annual flagship event, with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Finance of the OECD member states and partner countries. Costa Rica will chair the meeting in Paris on 3-4 June, while Australia and Canada have been confirmed as Vice-Chairs, along with Lithuania. The event will focus on discussing the importance of rules-based trade, investment, and innovation in building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable prosperity.
Lithuania joined the OECD in 2018 and is currently one of the 38 member countries.
